Acts 2:46-47 (NKJV)
46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. and the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
In this scripture, we receive a glimpse of the first assembly of believers in their joy, love and reverence for the word of the Lord. It is a Holy Spirit inspired scene of oneness in gathering together as Christ Disciples. At Shady Grove, it is our desire to pattern ourselves after this early church family. Shady Grove came into existence under an arbor structure in Macon County, Alabama to begin this task.
Since the early 1800’s we have continuously strived to achieve this oneness of service to the LORD as a church family. We believe that an assembly of baptized believers are those who: love the LORD serving HIM with gladness, spirit and truth; we systematically study the scriptures & strive to live the Word of God in all aspects of our daily lives; and it is a church where the Word is preached and our Lord and Savior worshiped . We are forever striving to live by faith and not by sight. We believe by living the aforementioned things we place ourselves in a position to receive, love and care for those who our Savior adds to HIS church.
We invite you to come and worship with us at Shady Grove and if you are looking for a place to serve the Lord, we offer our assembly of baptized believers as a home to serve God.
